Rising majestically to 5,137 meters (16,854 feet), Mount Ararat dominates the horizon of eastern Turkey and attracts adventurers from around the world. Known as the resting place of Noah's Ark, this dormant stratovolcano is not only Turkey's highest peak but also a symbol of myth, resilience, and awe-inspiring natural beauty.
The ascent of Mount Ararat is more than a physical challenge: it's a transformative journey through rugged landscapes, changing climates, and rich culture. Most expeditions follow the Southern Route, the only officially permitted trail, which offers a gradual but challenging climb suitable for hikers with moderate experience. The journey typically lasts four to five days, allowing time for acclimatization, landscape exploration, and summit preparation.
